Readsboro

This started as a typical ride that ended atypically. Parking at the corner of Rt. 100 and Bailey Hill Road, you head up the gravel road for several miles, enjoy the amazing views, and then head down, down down into Readsboro village. Along the way the road name changes to King Hill Road, with a 90 degree right turn but no name change.

This road rides along a ridge with really nice views to your left. Turning left onto E Main St. you continue going down, and you pass a really majestic Readsboro Village Cemetery on your left.

At mile 5, you enter the village of Readsboro. This is the lowpoint of the ride “elevation-wise” but a highpoint “interest-wise”, since there is a village cross roads with several business establishments, including a cute Readsboro Inn.

Then you head out of town and up, up, up, on Howe Pond Road – a wide paved road with medium level traffic. But the adventure really begins at mile 9 of this 9.5 mile ride, where you come to a “closed” bridge that you have to cross to get back to the starting point. This was a rather exciting challenge, with some bushwhacking out to Rt. 100, a left turn, and then back to the starting point.
