St Albans City, St Albans Town, Georgia, Milton
This ride doesn’t feel like it is 23 miles long, since it is relatively flat – but the views of the sun over the lake are lovely, especially at the latter part of the day.
We parked at the Bellows Free Academy parking lot, and headed through town to get onto Lake Street. While we did not ride by Taylor Park, it is a beautiful option as you head out or return, with colorful flowerbed and shady trees.
We wound our way through and out of town through the late day shadows,.
We headed out Lake Street, which has more traffic than we are typically used to, but soon turned left on Church Street, and another left on Georgia Shore Road, which had lovely views of the lake for several miles. It was the end of the day on a Saturday, and so we saw many folks gathering on their decks, grilling, enjoying the tranquil water, and waving to us with good will.
Georgia Shore Road eventually turns into Lake Road, and at halfway or eleven miles into the ride, we turned left onto several back roads that took us back to St. Albans – through agricultural land, corn fields, past barns, historical graveyards and churches.
