The folks in this area take their class 4 roads seriously! photo Marcia Gauvin
This route has A LOT of class 4 – very tough riding. Not for the faint of heart.

This is a perfect example of how not all 30 mi rides with an elevation gain of 3,713 ft are created equal. This was one tough ride, with the majority of it on unmaintained class 4 roads. This ride started out on typical gravel, for about 6 miles, and then it was on very difficult class 4 , on and off, for the next 20!

No two segments the same. Some were flat sandy lanes covered in pine needles, some were climbing muddy boulder fields, and one segment was a barely passable muddy mucky mess. Chris, who is a monster rider, was able to ride most of it, but I did a fair amount of walking. At one point, Chris pointed out that if one of us got hurt, it would take hours to get help because we were deep in the “willi-wacks.” Don’t do this ride alone!
