Brookfield and Braintree
Braintree Bluegrass Brunch
8/21/22
- This is a relatively short ride with some respectable elevation – a total distance of 17.05 miles and an elevation gain of 2,070 feet. There is one rather challenging class 4 section – Bouvant Road, which is pretty washed out and gullied in the center. With a distance of about 1.6 miles and a an almost continual climb, it was a fun but challenging section. I wiped out pretty seriously in the middle to finish the ride with a bloody leg. This route features a short distance on VT Route 12, before turning to climb up the steep and challenging Bent Hill – almost 3 miles with almost 800 feet of elevation.
- The ride ended for us at the Braintree Bluegrass Brunch, held outdoors at the Braintree Meeting House. It had a tent, a stage and three great bands. Bent Hill Brewery served the cold beers. We brought our cooler of lunches, and our favorite summer chair to relax and enjoy the music.
