Ferdinand, Brunswick and Lewis

This is an interesting ride. It is an out and back on federal wildlife management land on Lewis Pond Road, but it goes through a little bit of three towns. It is almost cheating to claim Brunswick on this ride, but technically there is a tiny point of land at the top of Brunswick that we went through. We may go back and do Brunswick proper again, who knows?

This ride is mostly on federal wildlife management land, but if you come at it from VT 105, there is a tiny section of private land – maybe 100 yards- that we walked our bikes through. Not sure whether that is allowed (and there might have been a trail around?) but once on the other side of the second gate, it was a glorious forest ride.

We talked to the Brighton State Park ranger and her friend on the Henshaw Road in Brighton. They claimed that Henshaw went way out, looped back, and eventually connected to Lewis Pond road and back to 105 – and they returned to Island Pond biking that long loop. We would like to try to do it some day.
