This ride starts on the main street in the village of Cabot – home of Vermont’s famous Cabot Cheese. We parked on the village green and headed out of town on Houston Hill Road, a gravel road with farms and great views.

Houston Hill ends (or so we thought) at Coits Pond road, we turned north and soon began to go down to Coits Pond.  The road turns into a class 4 beyond Coits Pond, and had some significant flood damage on the day we rode it, with about 6 feet of road bed missing for a short distance.

The road continues north, a class 4, not driveable with a car, but OK for bikes.  The road is maintained again as you pass the first house and then a cemetery.

About that time, the road name changes to Corner Road and then it joins the other section of Houston Hill Road (not connected to the first Houston Hill we rode).  At that point, you ride down lower Houston Hill to Cabot Road, which is paved.  Cabot Road is a significant ride up over the hill back to Cabot village, passed a large firewood operation on the way.

Don’t miss Harry’s hardware in the downtown Cabot. They have whatever you might need, including a cold beer!
