Victory and Granby

This is a 14 mile out and back ride. While the profile looks daunting, the total elevation gain is 720 feet per seven miles, so it is really mostly flat.

We parked on Shore Road south of Granby village, and then turned left onto Granby road for two miles. While this is a year round maintained road that crosses a significant portion of northern VT – more than 20 miles from Guildhall to Burke, we saw almost no cars.

The best part of the ride, however, was after we took a left onto River Road and into the Victory Bog Basin area. Victory Basin Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and Victory State Forest, a really gorgeous land feature of low lying wet lands abundant with birds, flowers and mountain views. In total, it covers approximately 28,000 undeveloped acres.
