Don’t be fooled by the profile of elevation on this ride. It is scaled way up, so it looks like a lot of mountains, when in reality this is a relatively flat ride through some of the most beautiful farm land in the state. It crosses Route 7 twice as well, but keeps well off the busy roads.

This ride begins in Shelburne, where we parked on the village green, across from the church. We rode out of town due south on Mt. Philo Rd, before turning east on Thomas Road, and onto Spear St. Spear Street was paved, with up and down hills, but had slow and lazy traffic on a Sunday morning.

Spear Street takes you into East Charlotte, a sweet community, before it crosses a covered bridge- the Quinlans Covered Bridge -and turns to gravel.

We crossed route 7 in Coleman Corners in Ferrisburgh, and headed toward Lake Champlain. The route takes you along the edge of Lake Champlain and eventually to the Charlotte Town Beach Park, with beautiful views of the lake, and a small covered bridge.

Eventually, you head back into Shelburne, by the Shelburne Apple Farms, cross route 7 again and back into the village to the start.
